Novelist and short-story writer. Military service: Served in the military, in Northern Africa, for a time between 1892-1907.

L'Atlantide was adapted for several films of the same name (1921, 1932, 1972, 1991), as well as the films Siren of Atlantis (1949), Toto Sceicco (1950), Desert Legion (1953), and Antinea: L'Amante della Citta Sepolta (also known as The City Beneath the Desert and Lost Kingdom; 1961).

SIDELIGHTS:

Pierre Benoit, novelist and short-story writer, is best known for his first novel, Koenigsmark. During his lifetime, Benoit produced about forty adventure novels, including Pour Don Carlos, Le Lac salé, and Chaussée des géants.
