Vinco, Ivo
Vinco, Ivo, Italian bass; b. Verona, Nov. 8, 1927. He studied at the Verona Liceo Musicale and with Ettore Campogalliani in Milan. After making his operatic debut as Ramfis in Verona in 1954, he sang there regularly in succeeding years; also appeared in virtually all Italian opera centers. On March 19,1970, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y. as Oroveso, remaining on its roster until 1973, and returning for the 1976-78 seasons. Among his prominent roles were the Grand Inquisitor, Mozart’s Dr. Bartolo, Alvise, Ferrando, Donizetti’s Raimondo, and Sparafucile. In 1958 he married Fiorenza Cossotto.
