Varga, Ovidiu, Romanian composer and teacher; b. Pascani, Oct. 5, 1913; d. Bucharest, July 15, 1993. He received training in violin and composition in Ia§i, and later taught at the Bucharest Cons. He composed much vocal music, including Sdnteia Eliberäii,oratorio for Soloists, Chorus, and Orch. (1954), the Cantata bucurieifor Soloists, Chorus, and Orch. (Bucharest, July 1960), mass songs, and solo songs. Among his other works were a String Quartet, Primavara viefii (1953), and a Concerto for Strings and Percussion (1957).
