Visiting prof. of mus., Columbia Univ., NY, 1969 and Univ. of Calif. at Berkeley 1977–8. Authority on Beethoven. Ed. of Beethoven Studies Vol.I (1973), II (1977), III (1982). Pubd. Clementi thematic catalogue 1967 and (with A. Rosenthal) Mozart's Thematic Catalogue (facsimile) (1990).
