Composite work for str. orch. comprising 6 variations on Elizabethan tune ‘Sellinger's Round’ comp. to celebrate Coronation of Elizabeth II 1953 and f.p. at Aldeburgh Fest. that year, cond. Britten. Composers were Oldham, Tippett, L. Berkeley, Britten, Searle, and Walton. Tippett expanded his contribution into his Divertimento (1953–4), the tune appearing in all 5 movts.
