Rubinstein, Nikolay (Grigorevich) (b Moscow, 1835; d Paris, 1881). Russ. pianist and composer, brother of Anton Rubinstein. Founded Moscow Cons. 1866, remaining dir. until his death. Notable teacher, pupils incl. Taneyev and Ziloti. Gave f.p. of Balakirev's Islamey. Tchaikovsky's Pf. Trio in A minor was composed in his memory.
