Rogers, Nigel (David)
Rogers, Nigel (David) , English tenor, conductor, and teacher; b. Wellington, Shropshire, March 21, 1935. He studied at King’s Coll., Cambridge (1953–56), in Rome (1957), in Milan (1958–59), and with Husch at the Munich Hochschule für Musik (1959–64). He became a singer with the Studio der frühen Musik in Munich in 1961 and later acquired a fine reputation as an interpreter of Baroque music. He was a prof. of singing at the Royal Coll. of Music in London (from 1978) and founded the vocal ensemble Chiaroscuro for the performance of Italian Baroque music (1979).
