Ranalow, Frederick (Baring)

Ranalow, Frederick (Baring ), Irish baritone; b. Dublin, Nov. 7, 1873; d. London, Dec. 8, 1953. He became a chorister at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London when he was 10. After training with Randegger at the Royal Academy of Music in London, he pursued a successful career as an oratorio singer. He also appeared with the Beecham Opera Co., winning praise for his Mozart’s Figaro. In 1920 he sang Captain Macheath in Austin’s revival of The Beggar’s Opera, a role he sang on some 1, 600 occasions.
