Pradas Gallen, José , Spanish composer; b. Villahermosa del Rio, Aug. 21, 1689; d. there, Aug. 11, 1757. He became a chorister at Valencia Cathedral in 1700, where he received instruction in theory from Teodoro Orteils. After serving as organist and choirmaster at the Algemesi parish church (1712–17) and the Castellón de la Plana Cathedral (1717–28), he was choirmaster at Valencia Cathedral from 1728. His large output of works included 7 masses, a Requiem, 60 Psalms, 22 motets, and over 275 villancicos.
