Perick (real name, Prick), Christof

Perick (real name, Prick), Christof, German conductor; b. Hamburg, Oct. 23,1946. He was a student in Hamburg of Brückner-Rüggeberg. After serving as an asst. conductor at the Hamburg State Opera, he conducted at the operas in Trier (1970–72) and Darmstadt (1972–74). He was Generalmusikdirektor in Saarbrücken (1974–77) and Karlsruhe (1977–84), and also held the title of 1st conductor at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin (1977–84). He was music director (1991–94) and music advisor (from 1994) of the Los Angeles Chamber Orch. In 1993 he became Generalmusikdirektor of the Niedersächsische State Theater and Orch. in Hannover. Perick appeared as a guest conductor of opera and sym. throughout Europe and North America.
