Orejón y Aparicio, José de
Orejón y Aparicio, José de, Peruvian composer and organist; b. Huacho, 1706; d. Lima, between May 7 and 21, 1756. He was admitted to the choir at Lima Cathedral when he was only 9, and studied organ there with its principal organist, Juan de Peralta. After his teacher’s death, Orejón y Aparicio briefly served as interim organist and was recalled in 1742 as principal organist. He also was made its maestro di capilla in 1760. His sacred music was greatly esteemed in his era.
