Newbould, Brian (Raby)
Newbould, Brian (Raby), English musicologist;b. Kettering, Feb. 26, 1936. He studied at the Univ. of Bristol (B.Mus., 1958; M.A., 1961). He was a lecturer at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music in Glasgow (1960–65) and at the Univ. of Leeds (1965–79). Newbould became prof. of music and head of the music dept. at the Univ. of Hull in 1979. He prepared effective realizations of Schubert’s Sym. No. 7, D.729, and Sym. No. “10” D.936a. He also completed the scherzo and trio of Schubert’s Sym. No. 8, D.759, “Unfinished.”
