Moodie, Alma

Moodie, Alma, Australian violinist; b. Brisbane, Sept. 12, 1900; d. Frankfurt am Main, March 7, 1943. She studied with Thomson in Brussels (1907–10). She played at a concert as a child prodigy (with Reger). She gave concerts in Germany, where she lived most of her life, and also taught at the Frankfurt am Main Academy of Music. Her prestige as a musician was high in Germany, and she performed many new works, including Pfitzner’s Violin Concerto, which waswritten for her.
