Meili, Max

Meili, Max, Swiss tenor; b. Winterthur, Dec. 11, 1899; d. Zürich, March 17, 1970. He was a student of P. Deutsch in Winterthur and of F. von Kraus in Munich. He pursued an active concert career in Europe, becoming known as an interpreter of early music. In 1933 he helped to found the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. In 1955 he founded and subsequently served as director of the Collegium Cantorum Turicense.
