List, Garrett

List, Garrett, American composer; b. Phoenix, Sept. 10, 1943. He studied with Bertram McGarrity at Calif. State Univ. in Long Beach, and in N.Y with Hall Overton and at the Juilliard School (B.M., 1968; M.M., 1969). He became proficient as a trombonist and was active with various new-music groups, both as performer and as composer. He was music director of N.Y’s Kitchen (1975–77) and also taught at the Liège Cons, (from 1980).
