Kreuder, Peter Paul
Kreuder, Peter Paul, German composer; b. Aachen, Aug. 18, 1905; d. Salzburg, June 28, 1981. He studied in Munich and in Hamburg. He was active as music director of the Reinhardt theaters in Berlin (1928–30) and at the drama theater in Munich (1930–33). In 1936 he was appointed state music director in Munich. In 1945 he went to Argentina, where he occupied educational posts under the regime of Juan Perón. He wrote an opera, Der Zerrissene (Stockholm, 1940), and several operettas. His song Schön war die Zeit became extremely popular in Germany. It also served as the title of his autobiography (Munich, 1955).
