Klimov, Valery (Alexandrovich)

Klimov, Valery (Alexandrovich) Russian violinist; b. Kiev, Oct. 16, 1931. His father was a professional conductor and a pedagogue. Klimov studied in Odessa and with D. Oistrakh at the Moscow Cons., graduating in 1956. He won 1st prize in the Prague and Paris competitions (1956) and then at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow (1958), which opened for him great opportunities for world tours. He played with much success in Europe, the U.S., and Australia.
