Kellner, Johann Christoph
Kellner, Johann Christoph, German organist and composer, son of Johann Peter Kellner; b. Gräfen-roda, Thuringia, Aug. 15, 1736; d. Kassel, 1803. He was a student of his father and in Gotha of Georg Benda. He served as court organist in Kassel, where he also was Kantor at the Lutheran Church. Among his works were the Singspiel Die Schadenfreude (Kassel, 1782), keyboard concertos, preludes, fugues, etc, chamber music, and cantatas. He also publ. the treatise Grundriss des Generalbasses, op.16, part 1 (Kassel, 1783; 7th ed., 1796).
