Janis [Yanks], Byron (b McKeesport, Penn., 1928). Amer. pianist. Début Pittsburgh 1937. Recital début, NY 1948. Eur. début, Amsterdam 1952; toured USSR 1960 and 1962. In 1960s continued career despite arthritis in both hands. In 1967 in Fr., discovered autograph MSS of two Chopin waltzes, Op.70, No.1 and Op.18.
