II Verso, Antonio
II Verso, Antonio, Italian composer; b. Piazza Armerina, Sicily, c. 1560; d. Palermo, c. Aug. 23, 1621. Following studies with Pietro Vinci (1582–84), he lived most of his life in Palermo, where he was active as a teacher and composer. His extant works include madrigals (10 vols.), motets (3 vols.), and a vol. of instrumental pieces. A complete ed. of his works was prepared by P. Carapezza et al. in Musiche Rinascimentali Siciliane, II-III and VI-VIII (1971–78).
