Hrimaly, Adalbert (Vojtěch)

Hrimaly, Adalbert (Vojtěch), Czech violinist, conductor, and composer, brother of Johann (Jan) and father of Otakar Hrimaly; b. Pilsen, July 30, 1842; d. Vienna, June 15, 1908. A member of an exceptionally musical family, he received an early training at home. He then studied with Mildner at the Prague Cons. (1855–61), and was subsequently active as a conductor, composer, and teacher in various towns in the Netherlands, Sweden, and Rumania. He wrote a great number of works, including an opera, Zaklety princ (The Enchanted Prince; Prague, May 13, 1872).
