Ghitalla, Armando
Ghitalla, Armando, distinguished American trumpeter and teacher; b. Alfa, 111., June 1, 1925. He studied at the Juilliard School of Music in N.Y. with William Vacchiano (1946-49). In 1949 he joined the Houston Sym. Orch., and in 1951 he was engaged by the Boston Sym. Orch., serving as its 1st trumpeter from 1965 to 1979. In 1979 he became prof. of trumpet at the Univ. of Mich, at Ann Arbor.
