Gall (real name, Galle), Yvonne
Gall (real name, Galle), Yvonne, French soprano; b. Paris, March 6, 1885; d. there, Aug. 21, 1972. She studied at the Paris Cons. She made her operatic debut at the Paris Opéra in 1908 as Mathilde, and remained on its roster until 1935; also sang at the Opéra-Comique in Paris (1921–34). From 1918 to 1921 she was a member of the Chicago Grand Opera, then sang in San Francisco (1931). After her retirement, she taught voice at the Paris Cons. She was highly successful in the French and Italian operatic repertoire. In 1958 she married Henri Büsser, who, although much older, outlived her and reached the age of 101.
