Foss, Hubert (James) (b Croydon, 1899; d London, 1953). Eng. pianist and editor. Joined staff of OUP 1921 becoming head of mus. dept. on its foundation in 1924. Pubd. mus. of several Eng. composers, notably Walton and Vaughan Williams. Wrote book about Vaughan Williams (1950).
