d’Harcourt, Marguerite (née Béclard), French folk-song collector and composer; b. Paris, Feb. 24, 1884; d. there, Aug. 2, 1964. She studied composition with d’Indy and Emmanuel. She composed 2 syms., Rapsodie péruvienne for Oboe, Clarinet, and Bassoon, and many songs. With her husband, Raoul d’Harcourt, she publ, a valuable treatise, Musique des Incas et ses survivances (2 vols., Paris, 1925), based on materials gathered during their journeys in Peru. Another valuable publication was her compilation of 240 songs, Chansons folkloriques françaises au Canada (Quebec, 1956).
