d’Arneiro, (José Augusto) Ferreira Veiga, Viscount, Portuguese composer; b. Macao, China, Nov. 22, 1838; d. San Remo, July 7, 1903. He studied with Botelho, Schira, and Soares in Lisbon. He wrote a ballet, Gina (Lisbon, 1866), a Te Deum (Lisbon, 1871), and the operas L’Elisire di Giovinezza (Lisbon, March 31, 1876) and La Derelitta (Lisbon, 1885).
