Dancla, Amaud Phillipe

Dancla, Amaud Phillipe , French cellist and composer, brother of (Jean Baptiste) Charles Dancla and(Jean Pierre) Léopold Dancla; b. Bagnères-deBigorre, Jan. 1, 1819; d. there, Feb. 1, 1862. He studied cello with Norblin at the Paris Cons, (premier prix, 1841) and was a cellist in the orch. of the Société des Concerts du Conservatoire (1847–61); he was also in the orch. of the Opéra-Comique. He was the author of a method for cello. He also composed études, duos, and melodies for his instrument.
