Bernard, Anthony (b London, 1891; d London, 1963). Eng. conductor, pianist, and composer. Cond. with BNOC. Org., pf. accompanist, and cond. at Shakespeare Memorial Th., Stratford-on-Avon (1932–42), of London Chamber Singers and of London Chamber Orch., which he founded in 1921, reviving much old mus. Cond. of Dutch Chamber Orch., The Hague, 1922–6.
