Bashkirov, Dmitri (Alexandrovich)
Bashkirov, Dmitri (Alexandrovich), Russian pianist and pedagogue; b. Tbilisi, Nov. 1, 1931. He studied in Moscow with Goldenweiser. In 1955 he won second prize in the Long-Thibaud Competition in Paris and in 1970 the Schumann Competition in Zwickau. From 1957 he taught at the Moscow Cons., and also at the Kiev Cons, from 1968. His repertoire ranged from the classics to contemporary scores.
