Aurelianus Reomensis
Aurelianus Reomensis, French monk and scholar who flourished in Réomé in the 9th century. His treatise, Musica disciplina (ed. by L. Gushee in Corpus scriptorum de musica, XXI, 1975; Eng. tr. by J. Ponte in the Colo. Coll. Music Press Translations, III, 1968), contains the earliest information on the melodic character of the church modes.
