The Window ★★★½ 1949

A little boy (Disney star Driscoll, intriguingly cast by director, Tetzlaff) has a reputation for telling lies, so no one believes him when he says he witnessed a murder…except the killers. Almost unbearably tense, claustrophobic thriller about the helplessness of childhood. Tetzlaff clearly learned more than a thing or two from the master, Hitchcock, for whom he photographed “Notorious.” Based on the novella “The Boy Who Cried Murder” by Cornell Woolrich. Driscoll was awarded a special miniature Oscar as Outstanding Juvenile for his performance. 73m/B VHS . Bobby Driscoll, Barbara Hale, Arthur Kennedy, Ruth Roman; D: Ted Tetzlaff.
