Que Viva Mexico ★★★ Da Zdravstvuyet Meksika 1932

Eisenstein's grand unfinished folly on the history of Mexico, reconstructed and released in 1979 by his protege, Grigori Alexandrov. Divided into four sections: “Sandunga” covers the Tehuantepec jungles and its inhabitants; “Manguei” is about a peasant and his bride; “Fiesta” devotes itself to bullfighting and romance; and “Soldadera” depicts the 1910 Mexican revolution through frescoes. Along with “Greed” and “Napoleon,” it remains as one of cinema's greatest irrecoverable casualties. Russian narration with English subtitles. 85m/B VHS, DVD . RUD: Sergei Eisenstein; W: Sergei Eisenstein, Grigori Alexandrov; C: Eduard Tisse.
