Alcoholic, disbarred New Orleans attorney Lawson Russell (Gooding Jr.) decides to write a book. He happens to meet an elderly man who lets him read his own murder mystery manuscript and when the man unexpectedly dies, Lawson gets the book published as his own. It's a success—only it seems the the story about five lawyers being murdered is real and a detective (Berenger) thinks that since Russell knows so much about the crimes, he must be the killer. 102m/C VHS, DVD .
