The Last of the Blonde Bombshells
The Last of the BlondeBombshells ★★½ 2000 (PG-13)
Elizabeth (Dench) played sax with the all-girl swing band, The Blonde Bombshells, during WWII. With the urgings of grand-daughter Joan (Findlay) and drummer Patrick (Holm)—who played in drag—Elizabeth is encouraged to reunite the bandmembers. If they can find them and get them to agree. Good cast but the charm is on the low-burner and rather than swinging, it's more a sedate fox-trot. 80m/C VHS, DVD . Judi Dench, Ian Holm, Olympia Dukakis, Leslie Caron, Cleo Laine, Joan Sims, Billie White-law, June Whitfield, Felicity Dean, Valentine Pelka, Millie Findlay; D: Gilles Mackinnon; W: Alan Plater; C: Richard Greatrex; M: John Keane.
