Human Desire
Human Desire ★★½ 1954
Femme fatale Grahame and jealous husband Crawford turn out the lights on Crawford's boss (seems there's some confusion about how Miss Gloria managed to convince the guy to let her hubby have his job back). Ford's wise to them but plays see no evil because he's gone crackers for Grahame, who by now has decided she'd like a little help to rid herself of an unwanted husband. Bleak, melodramatic, full of big heat, its Lang through and through. Based on the Emile Zola novel “La Bete Humaine,” which inspired Renoir's 1938 telling as well. 90m/B VHS . Glenn Ford, Gloria Grahame, Broderick Crawford, Edgar Buchanan, Kathleen Case; D: Fritz Lang; C: Burnett Guffey.
