Hollywood North ★★½ 2003 (R)

Amusing satire on Canadian filmmaking when the government offered tax incentives for films made in Canada. Novice film producer Bobby Meyers (Modine) is trying to raise money to film a classic Canadian novel. But he needs a name actor and winds up with gun-toting paranoid Michael (Bates). Things just get worse—he's stuck with oversexed actress Gillian (Tilly), and numerous script changes turn Bobby's vision into something unrecognizable. All the while his trials are being documented by director Sandy (Unger). 89m/C VHS, DVD .
