The Dress
The Dress ★★ 1996
The title character turns out to be a very malevolent object indeed, in this Dutch absurdist comedy. The bright blue dress with the striking leaf design first causes havoc for the fabric designer, who's nearly fired, while the garment manufacturers get into a fight over the pattern. The dress goes from wearer to wearer, causing havoc for them all, until it is finally destroyed. Dutch with subtitles. 103m/C VHS . NL Henri Garcin, Ariane Schluter, Alex Van Warmerdam; D: Alex Van Warmerdam; W: Alex Van Warmerdam; C: Marc Felperlaan; M: Vincent van Warmerdam.
