Betty ★★ 1992

Sulky, drunken Betty (Trintignant) is doing her best to destroy her bourgeois life, escaping from her marriage into adultery and debasement. She meets the concerned middleaged widow Laure (Audran), who inexplicably takes her to her hotel room, cleans her up, and spends the remainder of the movie as Betty's soundingboard. Betty's passive personality offers little to explain her appeal to either Laure or the viewer. Based on the novel by Georges Simenon. French with subtitles. 103m/C VHS, DVD . FR Marie Trintignant, Stephane Audran, JeanFrancoise Garreaud, Yves Lambrecht, Christiane Minazzoli, Pierre Vernier; D: Claude Chabrol; W: Claude Chabrol; M: Matthieu Chabrol.
