American baseball player. Name variations: Sammy. Born on February 2, 1927, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Doris Sams, a pitcher and outfielder for the Muskegon-Kalamazoo Lassies from 1946 to 1953, was named Player of the Year in 1947 and 1949. She threw a perfect game in 1947, won the batting championship in 1949, and took the home-run title in 1952. Her lifetime batting average was .290.
