Saint. Name variations: Alfrida. Died around 840; possibly daughter of Offa II, king of Mercia, and Cynethryth (fl. 736–796); possibly sister of Eadburgh (c. 773–after 802).

Etheldreda, the daughter of Cynethryth and Offa, king of Mercia, lived for some 40 years as a recluse on the island of Croyland. Her feast day is August 2.
