Holy Roman empress. Name variations: Eleanora of Neuburg; Eleanor of Neuberg; Eleanor Magdalene of Neuburg; Eleanor Magdalene of Neuberg. Born on January 6, 1655; died on January 19, 1720; daughter of Elizabeth Amalia of Hesse (1635–1709) and Philip William, elector Palatine; became third wife of Leopold I of Bohemia (1640–1705), Holy Roman emperor (r. 1658–1705), on December 14, 1676; children: Joseph I (1678–1711), Holy Roman emperor (r. 1705–1711); Maria Elisabeth (1680–1741, stadholder of the Netherlands); Charles VI (1685–1740), Holy Roman emperor (r. 1711–1740); Maria Antonia of Austria (1683–1754, who married John V, king of Portugal); Maria Magdalena (1689–1743).
