Crochet, Evelyne (1934—)
French pianist. Born in 1934; studied with Yvonne Lefébure, Edwin Fischer and Rudolf Serkin.
Evelyne Crochet won a first prize in Yvonne Lefébure 's class at the Paris Conservatory in 1954. Her American debut saw her partnered with Francis Poulenc in the American premiere of his Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra; the Boston Symphony was conducted on the occasion by Charles Munch. She has made acclaimed recordings of the complete piano works of Gabriel Fauré and has also revealed an affinity for lesser-known works of German composers, particularly Franz Schubert.
