Bergroth, Kersti (b. 1886)
Finnish dramatist, novelist, and critic. Born in Karelia, Finland, in 1886.
Best known for her rustic comedies portraying life in Karelia, Kersti Bergroth also wrote five novels, including Kiirashnli (1922) and Balaisuntemme (1955), and a series of books for young girls. During the 1920s and the 1930s, she was the editor of two Finnish avant-garde literary magazines which had a great influence on cultural life. Although she lived in Rome for a prolonged period, she continued to contribute anecdotes and stories to Finnish papers.
