Finnish-Swedish poet and novelist. Name variations: Marta Tikkanen. Born April 3, 1935, in Helsinki, Finland; dau. of a professor; m. Henrik Tikkanen (1924–1989, writer); children: 5.
One of the best-known woman writers in Finland, worked as teacher, editor, and was head of Helsinki's Swedish Institute for Workers (1972–81); writes in Swedish; published a novel in 2 volumes, Nu imorron (Now Tomorrow, 1970) and Ingenmansland (No Man's Land, 1972); published (poems) Århundradets kärlekssaga (Love Story of the Century, 1978) and novels Rödluvan (Little Red Riding Hood, 1986) and Storfangeren (The Great Hunter, 1990); also wrote Man kan inte valdtas (Manrape, 1979).
