English actress. Born Nov 13, 1884, in Portsmouth, England; died Oct 5, 1958, in London, England; dau. of F. A. Scudamore (playwright); m. Roy Redgrave (died); children: Michael Redgrave (actor); grandchildren: Corin, Lynn, and Vanessa Redgrave (all actors).
Made West End debut as Martha Hadden in The Fire Screen (1912); subsequently appeared as Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest, Catherine Petkoff in Arms and the Man, Lady Britomart Undershaft in Major Barbara, Mrs. Markham in The Visitor, and Mrs. Armitage in Robert's Wife, among others; films include Arms and the Man and A Canterbury Tale.
