English archaeologist. Name variations: Nancy Katharine Sandars. Born June 29, 1914; University of London Institute of Archaeology, diploma, 1949; attended British School at Athens, 1954–55; St. Hugh's College at Oxford University, BLitt, 1957.
Conducted archaeological research in Europe (1949–69) and Middle East (1957, 1958, 1962, 1966); involved in conferences at Montreal's McGill University as well as in Sofia and Prague; became a fellow of Society of Archaeologists (1984); joined faculty of Oxford University's School of Archaeology; wrote Prehistoric Art in Europe (1968) and The Sea Peoples: Warriors of the Ancient Mediterranean, 1250–1150 BC (1978), among others; translated The Epic of Gilgamesh.
