Italian novelist and short-story writer. Born 1931 in Rome, Italy.
Published 1st novel La bicicletta (The Bicycle, 1974), which won the Viareggio Prize; also wrote L'estate di Letuqué (1982), Le strade di polvere (1987, trans. as The Dust Roads of Monferrato, 1990), and Sogni d'inverno (1992).
