Appeared in several Broadway musicals, including stage debut in Garrick Gaieties (1926), before making film debut in Black Magic (1929), followed by Words and Music, The Taming of the Shrew, In Gay Madrid, Min and Bill, Hell Divers, The Lost Squadron, Cabin in the Cotton, The Seachers and The Wings of Eagles.
