Duchess of York. Name variations: Isabella. Born in Morales, Spain, in 1355; died on November 23, 1392; daughter of Pedro el Cruel also known as Peter I the Cruel, king of Castile and Leon (r. 1350–1369), and Marie de Padilla (1335–1365); sister of Constance of Castile (1354–1394); married Edmund of Langley (1341–1402), duke of York, in 1372; children: Edward, 2nd duke of York (1372–1415); Richard of York, also known as Richard of Conisbrough, 2nd earl of Cambridge (1376–1415, who married Anne Mortimer ); Constance (c. 1374–1416).
