Landgrave of Hesse-Cassel. Name variations: Charlotte of Hesse-Cassel. Born on November 20, 1627, in Cassel, Germany; died on March 16, 1687, in Cassel; daughter of William V (b. 1602), landgrave of Hesse, and Amelia of Hanau ; married Karl Ludwig also known as Charles I Louis (1617–1680), elector Palatine of the Rhine (r. 1648–1680), on February 22, 1650 (divorced); children: Charles II (1651–1685), elector Palatine of the Rhine; Frederick Simmern; Charlotte Elizabeth of Bavaria (1652–1722); Charlotte Wittelsbach (1659–1696, who married Meinhard, duke of Leinster). Charles I Louis' second wife was Marie Susanne Louise Raugräfin .
